Motherhood

I keep hearing how life is OVER as you know it once you become a mother. How you will never shower again, you'll live in sweatpants, never brush your hair, and let all the rest of it on your body grow wild.......all for the sake of your child. The ultimate in selflessness.
SAY'S WHO????????????????
My mom was a working mom...and was back in her skinny jeans in 3 months. She went right back to being fabulous, because she wanted to. I really believe this whole letting yourself go as soon as you become a mom is a choice. Yes, of course, things will change. I won't have as much time for myself. I may not be able to take 45 minute baths anymore. I never did anyway!
But looking and feeling good about myself, and maintaining some of my old self and identity....absolutely essential if I want to be a good mom.
SO...watch out people...I may need a babysitter once a week for 2-3 hours..so that I can wax myself, go for a coffee..and read a chapter in a book.

No one should take the swine flu vaccine. It is one of the most dangerous vaccines ever devised. It contains an immune adjuvant called squalene (MF-59) which has been shown to cause severe autoimmune disorders such as MS, rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus. This is the vaccine adjuvant that is strongly linked to the Gulf War syndrome, which killed over 10,000 soldiers and caused a 200% increase in the fatal disease ALS (Lou Gehreg disease). This virus H1N1 kills by causing a "cytokine storm", which means that it cause the body's immune system to overreact and that is why it is killing young people and is a mild disease in the elderly. (The elderly have weakened immune systems.) This vaccine is a very powerful immune stimulator and carries the real possibility of making the lethality of the virus much greater.
One's best protection is vitamin D3. One should take 5000 IU a day now and when the disease begins to spread increase the dose to 15,000 IU a day. Vitamin D3 modulates the immune reaction, reducing the chance of an overreaction and stimulates the body to produce what are called antimicrobial peptides, which are powerful killers of viruses that does not involve immunity. This is dose related, which means the higher the dose of vitamin D3 the better the protection. Fish oils (the best is Carlson's Norwegian lemon flavored fish oil) also reduce immune overreaction. One teaspoon a day should be sufficient. For severe symptoms, one teaspoon twice a day. Antioxidants of various kins also help-this includes, quercetin, curcumin, grapeseed extract, vitamin C and natural vitamin E. A good multivitamin/mineral is also essential.

Post Birthday Post

36 years old! Huh? I just re-read that. Yikes. But, it's great really. I still feel pretty young, just with a lot more responsibility. Same child-like view of the world though.
Brain power has shrunk by a mere 8 %. Didn't need it anyway. Baby hogging all my vocab.
But, I really love my life. Great great boyfriend.....amazing really. Fabulous family...every one of 'em.......love my jobs.....love my condo. Like the direction the decorating has been going, too.
No complaints.....maybe a bit busy. But that's life.
Can't wait till kick -boxing.....after the baby.
Just re-re-read. Sounds like I'm bragging.
Not. Just thankful that's all.
Gros Becs to everyone.
Oh yes...and great friends too!!
Gratitude.

The meaning of work.

I have figured out what I MEANT to do in life. And what I am NOT meant to do in life. Pregnancy has taught me a lot about myself. Of what I am capable of..and what I simply do not care about.
I have realized that I don't want to be in a box.....with weekends off. To me..that is life suicide.
But for now, I will go through the motions...and act happy about it. But, I know what I am meant to do.....and it's not this. jeeeeeeeeeeeeez. HOW DO PEOPLE DO IT.
Anyway, gotta go.
To my little girl. Advice. Do what makes you happy in life.....NEVER EVER EVER feel the need to do something because you feel you have to. Well..ok...sometimes you have to. But other than emergency times.....just seek fulfillment.

You're a girl!!

I THOUGHT you might be! In fact, I was pretty sure of it......intuition I guess. Which is the weirdest thing. Everytime I talk to my friends with kids..a lot of them say that they just KNEW.
My question. How come this intuition doesn't work in the rest of our lives. Like with all of the idiots I have dated. (sorry to the nice ones....you don't count here) If I had known inherently...some of the things about some of the men...I would have kept walking. Or just ordered another. Whichever came first.
But, guess I was right this time.
Woman's intuition. Right on some occasions......

I would have been happy either way if you had been a boy OR a girl. But let's face it..the clothing options are endless now. Let's try not to have everything pink though ok? Unless you want it. I mean if you like pink...that's great. I'll never stop you from making choices. Just the wrong ones.

23 WEEKS

Well...the good news is, I can still see my feet. But this can also fluctuate during the day. It really depends on what I eat. This blog is for no other purpose, other than that one day, I will look back and read this...and remember all of the ups and downs and interesting things that happen to my body and psyche when I am pregnant.
I could have started this in the first trimester...but lets face it...I didn't feel like blogging then. I didn't feel like doing much. Those first three months are weird, because although you KNOW you are pregnant...there is no sign really, other than exhaustion, nausea and really big boobs. The tummy looks the same. I remember always thinking....maybe I just have a disease.
So when things start getting tight...it's actually welcomed. For the first bit anyway.
So, I am going to try and keep this diary up every couple of days. So that I can remember...so that my baby can read it one day. (3 years from now...I'm guessing) ( what? It'll be a smart baby...)
I am off to one of my jobs now. That's right...yo' mamma is working 7 days a week. For someone who thrived on leisure time in her past...I am loving being busy.
So. I am drinking a tea right now...I am going to get dressed. And then I am going to walk about 67 steps to the office. sweet. I call my jobs..the triangle of money and friendship.
PS...you are one active little baby right now....moving like crazy...it feels funny and I LOVE IT.
Maybe you'll be a funny baby?

BABY BLOG.

I thought I would get with the times...and be a baby-mamma blogger. Isn't that what I'm supposed to do? Record everything from the moment of conception until I feel the baby 'crowning'? (hospital term for...'we can see baby's head coming from between your legs..and it is exciting')
Was I supposed to be blogging on the wonderful feeling of eating a delicious meal of broth and rice and the vomiting that followed..only to be followed again by hunger..more broth and rice..and more barfing? That's all part of it though I guess. I am way past the barf stage....so I think I will blog more so that my little one can see how nuts her/his mom is! Gotta go to one of my jobs now! That's right..3 jobs......not one day off until..uhmm.....September 28th.

too many.

The other day, I got a call from a friend. He said he wanted to know if I would be interested in participating in a Walk. A Walk to raise money for animals who can't raise money for themselves.
Turns out I'm busy that day....
On the one hand I would have been glad to help out. On the other hand...I think this 'WALK' business is out of control.
There is a WALK for everything nowadays. It seems all people do is go on WALKS.
A walk for every disease out there. You name the illness..there's a walk right there by it's side.
A walk every day of every weekend all through the year. And a t-shirt to go with each and every walk. Now...I'm all in for the big ones. Cancer walks ...MS walks....hearing loss/blindness....those are classics.
A walk to raise awareness for people with no legs? That's mean.
Or a friendship Walk? Why not just have group coffee in a parking lot.
All I'm sayin' is they have to come up with something new..other than a WALK.
We USED to have RUN's for stuff. A RUN for the Cure.
I guess we have gotten a bit lazier...we decided walking was easier.
What's next? A WALK for the PEOPLE that never made it out to any WALKS?

No worries...just my opinion.

Why I watch shit tv.

It's true....I have watched some of the shittiest programming on TV. Housewives of NYC, O.C., N.J.......you get it. The Bachelor(s), the Bachelorette , Tila Tequila, Parental Control, Wedding S.O.S, Rich Bride Poor Bride, Date My EX, Rock of Love...all three. (although Rock Of Love BUS...was the stupidest..and the best)
The stupider...the better.
This is not to say that I would rather watch other things. The problem lies in that we don't have cable...but we have MTV...and the evilest channel of all....SLICE.

Oriental Pearll - HOT AND SOUR SOUP review.

I have had my share of hot and sour soups in my time. I find myself to be quite the connoisseur actually, having once lived in china town off Spadina in Toronto. I still have a favorite there. A place that claimed they had the BEST hot and sour...and they did. The broth was rich and dark and had a deep beef/chicken flavour to it, with the ABSOLUTE perfect amount of sour. (I like mine on the sour end of things) The seemingly hundreds of ingredients we were perfectly suspended in the broth. Vegetables, meat, shrimp, tofu squares, and egg whisps...threaded through eachother making it so beautiful to look at. Delicious really.
A big bowl, full of delicious ingredients, done to perfection.
Oriental Pearl in Winnipeg, where I now live, did not deliver. Well they DO deliver. Which is handy. I was shocked, because for the most part their food is good. Consistent, hot, fresh, tasty. A BIT on the saucy side...but manageable, especially if you get lots of rice. So I thought I would try their version of hot and sour soup. I say version because I swear, everyone has their own. Some restaurants make it a priority on the menu...others make it, well, like the ORIENTAL PEARL.
A thick, cherry coloured, gelatinous mess showed up at my door. There was so much corn starch that it had to be scooped and plopped out into a bowl...although a plate would have sufficed.
I felt like I was eating vinegar flavoured red jell-o with shrimp pieces and pork strips floating throughout. Yum..just like grandma's. It did have the right amount of sour to spice, oddly enough.
I have no idea how this hot mess made it out the door. It's as if they had just decided to give up on this soup....they are not sure how to make it, they will never know...and they don't care. Because for some reason it still sells.
Not to me!
Sorry O.P....I'll stick with your spicy squid.

Morning coffee

There is nothing better than morning coffee. If it could be a career, I would sign up. The first one is always the best...the second, not AS good, but good still. The third, the shakes really.
I can never stop at the ONE....I always have two. I also like to stare out the window in the morning. With my coffee. Contemplate the day. Think about tomorrows coffee.

RESTAURANT REVIEW

I think I am going to keep track of the restaurants I go to.

Ok. Today I am going to talk about Carlo's and Murphy's. The nachos the other night were good. They were supposed to be chicken, but she brought us beef. The cheese was well distributed and the nachos were piled high. Quite delicious. What else. Oh yeah, and they were nice and hot.
Next stop.....sushi.
Ps...I am good cook, so I should eat in more.

Who reads blogs anyways?

I know for a fact that the only blog I read, is mine. I start off by writing about things that concern me. Or things that I find interesting or funny. Like for instance, I have a great interest in vintage cans of food. Say, an un-opened can of beets from the 40's. Then I re-read it to make sure it makes sense. By the way,I like beets in general. No matter what year they are from. They are delicious pickled or just steamed with butter and salt. After I finish re-reading, I publish it. It looks so professional when I post it! Like I am a real journalist. Then I read it again.

theory on Nickelback

Clear and simple. Nickleback sucks. If you like it that's ok. But it will change the way I see you.

blog blog blog

Not much to blog about. I mostly am blogging right now so that I can say I 'blogged' today. "I blogged, did you blog?" "OH YEAH...I blogged...I blogged twice" "Oh yeah? Well I back to back blogged...it's called a blog blog." If you're not blogging, you're not living. How would the rest of the world know what I am feeling? What would the people do without knowing my every thought and opinion about stuff...if it were not for the blog. Well thank GOD I blogged today.
Watch out. I may be triple blogging tomorrow...or what I like to call it...a TRI-blog.

And another thing....

I have noticed that most of the women working the front desk check-in, in rural western Canada....all have pleasant short, sporty lady haircuts. With a nice clip-on chunky earing, and a fun pinned-on broach....all on that nice TanJay sweat-top that they got from their same age cousin last Christmas. HOW NICE.

Wings

Last night I ate chicken wings in Lethbridge Alberta. How's that for a blog?
